Actress and singer Ruby Akubueze is a national sensation due to her talent, dedication, and creativity. She also appeared in Ndani TV’s Schooled, Kasanova, and the Kunle Afolayan film Ijogbon.

Early Life
Ruby Akubueze was born on 15 October 1998 in Abia State, Nigeria. She is the third child in a family of six. Hailing from a Christian family helped to fuel her passion for acting and singing.
The young talent sang in the children’s choirs before joining the teenage choir. She also joined the church’s teenage editorial and drama group. Her passion for acting saw her watch movies, leaving her with thoughts of being on screen.
Joining her church’s drama group at the age of 15 became the foundation, which was her formative years of acting. After being comfortable with the experience she had gained, she started acting professionally at the age of 19.
After completing high school, Ruby moved out of her parents’ house in search of greener pastures in the acting industry. Seeing a better opportunity in Lagos, she moved to the city and started acting.
Since the beginning of her acting profession, her mother, Chinwe Joyce Akubueze, has always supported her in chasing her dream.
However, her father didn’t want anything to do with her for the first few months. Eventually, he understood better what it meant to her and accepted it.
Education
Ruby Akubueze attended schools in Abia State till her senior year when she transferred to a school in Lagos State. She obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Lagos.
Career
Akubueze has landed many roles in movie productions. Among her known roles are Frances in MTV Shuga Naija seasons 3 and 4, Ini in Kasanova, and Bukky in the short film Her.
Akubueze portrayed Kwado in What Happened on Third Street, Bukky in Under, Kachimi in Trampled, and May in The Trip. She tops up her acting prowess with singing and voiceovers.
She has gained national recognition, including winning the 2018 Africa Fashion Fest Prize for Model Actor of the Year.
The talented actress who appeared in the mix is Kunle Afolayan film Ijogbon, playing Oby. No doubt, Akubueze is carving her path with an infectious passion for acting. She was a nominee for the Future Awards Africa Prize for Acting in 2020.
Akubueze released the short film Rehearsal, which secured international acclaim with several awards.
Aside from acting, Ruby is also talented in singing and modeling. She started 18th Stitch during the lockdown in June 2020 and had begun modeling earlier in 2017. Her song, Keep Me Down, has hit over 1 million streams.
Akubueze is passionate about community building. She volunteers at the anti-bullying non-profit The Solace Network, founded by her sister, Loveth Akubueze, and collaborates with the NGO STAR Foundation.
